Randy Kuzel, RRT

President and Chief Manager


Randy Kuzel started C.O.R.E. Respiratory Services in the fall of 2002. Prior to that he worked as a Educator/Supervisor and front line Respiratory Therapist at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, and United Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. He obtained his degree from East Grand Forks Technical Institute and the University of Minnesota-Crookston and obtained his RRT in 1990. Prior to that he owned a trucking company from 1971 to 1988.

Randy enjoys spending time with his wife Karen, their 3 children and 5 grandchildren. He enjoys traveling and going to spring training in Fort Myers FL to watch his favorite team the Minnesota Twins . His hobbies include woodworking, and remodeling his home.

Patricia entered the field of Respiratory Therapy in 1984. She is one of the original owner/partners since its inception in 2002. Patricia previously worked as Director of Clinical Research at Minnesota Lung Center, and was in direct supervision of 15 clinical trials at 3 clinical sites. She has a broad range of administrative and clinical knowledge in respiratory field and loves to continue to learn in this field. She has a teaching degree and was a 2nd grade teacher. Patricia is also involved in the Minnesota Society of Respiratory Care.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter. One of Patricia’s passions is art. Both visiting galleries and museums as well as attempting charcoal drawings.

Curt Merriman BA, RRT,CPFT

Curt began his respiratory therapy career in 1979.  He joined C.O.R.E. in the fall of 2004, and became an owner/partner and VP of Sales and Marketing of the company in 2005. He previously worked as a Sales Manager for Apria Healthcare/HealthEast Med Home. Curt has a broad range of management and clinical expertise with home medical equipment, respiratory care, pulmonary diagnositics, sleep labs, and cardiopulmonary departments. He has also owned two other small businesses.

When not involved in the daily operation of C.O.R.E., or working with the state and national respiratory care organizations, Curt enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife, his two daughters, and three grandchildren. He also enjoys time on his motorcycle experiencing the country side.

Bryan Wattier M.Ed, RRT

Bryan Wattier joined C.O.R.E. in 2014. He was previously the Director of Clinical Education for the Mayo School of Health Sciences Respiratory Care Program with a 16 year career at Mayo Clinic. He stays close to his Respiratory Therapist roots and has a passion for discovering how to effectively train and support his medical colleagues in respiratory therapy via new technology. His skillsets include respiratory care, instructional design, organizational development, and innovative ideas.  Bryan holds a M.Ed Degree from the University of Minnesota.

Working for C.O.R.E. is a dream job for Bryan. When not thinking of work, he spends his time serving his family as head chef, toy repair service center manager, taxi cab driver, and father and husband of the year (just ask him). His beautiful wife, Anita, and two sons, Sam and Miles occupy his devoted attention.

He’s a Jazz pianist having performed for over 20 years in one jazz group or another.

Sarah began her respiratory career in 2002 graduating from North Dakota State University with her Bachelors of Science. She joined C.O.R.E. in 2003 having worked prior at Regions Hospital in St Paul, MN, and Innovis Health in Fargo, ND. She started taking on a role in staffing in 2005. Sarah is active in the Minnesota Society for Respiratory Care.

In her spare time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and 3 children. She also enjoys traveling, reading, playing piano, and singing.

Justin Hawley

Justin Hawley joined C.O.R.E. in the summer of 2015.  He previously worked as Communications Director for Energy Economics, Inc.  Justin is also the owner/operator of two businesses: Hawley Productions, and Advanced Video Tactics.  He has a broad range of communications related talents, from public relations, to website development.  Justin graduated from Waldorf College with a B.A. in Mass Communications, with an emphasis in Digital Media.

When not making websites, refining messages, or making videos, Justin spends a lot of time with his beautiful wife and toddler Judah.  He is also the front-man of a Billboard charting Christian Rock Band – Light45.  He is a world-traveller, having visited over 20 countries in 4 continents.

He’s still searching for a perfect cup of coffee.

Barbara began her respiratory therapy career in 2000 and joined C.O.R.E. in the fall of 2002. Prior to that she worked at Abbott Northwestern and Minneapolis Children’s Hospitals and Clinics.

Barbara obtained her BS in Respiratory Care from North Dakota State University. She has a broad range of clinical experience in respiratory care and a passion for teaching. She is very active in the Minnesota Society for Respiratory Care.

Barbara enjoys art, music, loves to travel, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
